Tingoora and surrounds: rural blocks between Kingaroy and Wondai

Tingoora is a small town on the Bunya Highway, about 22 km north of Kingaroy and a few kilometres south of Wondai. The postcode is 4608. The town takes its name from the old railway station, which was named after the Waka language word for the wattle tree.

A bit of history

The railway reached Tingoora in December 1904, and the station became the centre of town life as crops from the district went out by rail. The Tingoora Hotel dates from 1900 and is often described as the town's first public building. The Theebine to Kingaroy line closed in 2010.

Tingoora's railway bridge is the longest surviving wooden railway bridge in the South Burnett. It has been restored and is now part of the Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail. The sealed section of that trail, for walkers and cyclists only, links Tingoora with Kingaroy and Wondai. The South Burnett Rail Trail also maps loop rides around Memerambi, Wooroolin, and Tingoora (South Burnett Rail Trail).

The surrounds

Between Kingaroy and Wondai, the highway passes through Crawford, Memerambi, Wooroolin, and Tingoora. These small localities sit in farming country. They suit buyers who want a quiet block with Kingaroy's services about 20 minutes away and Wondai even closer.

I've worked in these smaller places as well as the main towns. Recent examples include a sale on Prince Street in Memerambi, on a 1,012 m² block. I also currently have 23 Home Street in Tingoora listed, on 1,336 m².

Living here

You get a country pub, the rail trail on your doorstep, and paddocks around you. For schools, the hospital, and the big shops, you drive to Kingaroy or Wondai. From Tingoora, there's also a turn-off towards Lake Boondooma for fishing and camping.

If you're buying

Check what the property connects to: town water or tanks, sewer or septic, and the internet type at the address. Drive to Kingaroy at school and work times to see how the trip feels.

If you're selling

Buyers searching for "Tingoora" or "Memerambi" are usually after something specific, so give them the facts. That means the block size, water, sheds, and how far it is to town. My $0 up-front marketing offer is open to the first 10 homeowners who list with me this spring.

See current listings on my Buy page, or contact me to talk about your place.
